Dictador 24 Year Old 1998 Cask #SH-563 Libreto Sherry Cask Rum | 700ML

A generously aged rum from Columbia's Dictador distillery, selected by master blender Hernan Parra. Distilled in 1998, the rum was filled into American oak, before finishing its 24-year maturation in a sherry cask.

Nose Freshly roasted coffee, toasted malted brown bread smothered with raspberry jam. Some rhubarb notes and a hint of cardamom spice.

Palate Soft coffee notes on the palate backed with ginger syrup, some black liquorice powder and a note of vanilla. Oak spices are there, too with a good note of rich red fruits.

Finish All red fruits and liquorice laces.

Distillery Information

The rum is named after Severo Arango y Ferro, nicknamed "El Dictador", who in the 1700s oversaw trade between Spain and the colonies. At the end of the 18th century Severo Arango y Ferro came to Cartagena de Indias in Nueva Granada (today's Colombia).
