Special edition of Wild Turkey 81 made for the Veteran Artist Program, featuring artwork by U.S. military veterans. A high-rye mash bourbon aged around 5-8 years, giving good oak, spice, honey, and vanilla flavors at a more approachable proof.

Nose: Spiced oak, vanilla fudge, rye spice, caramel.

Palate: Rich caramel, honey, fudge, with bolder oak and warming spice.

Finish: Sweet oak, lingering rye spice and char from the cask; honey undertones.

Distillery Information

Wild Turkey Distillery is located in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and is owned by the Campari Group. Its bourbon legacy goes back well over a century. Wild Turkey is famous for its deep-charred (#4) American oak barrels ("alligator char") and a mashbill with higher rye content (approx 13-15%) to give bold spicy notes. The “81 proof” line was introduced in 2011 under Eddie Russell as a more approachable option yet still with flavor. The Veteran Artist Program Edition is part of Wild Turkey’s special limited releases, created to support veteran artists by showcasing label art by veterans and giving back through exposure. Wild Turkey is still overseen by the Russell family (Jimmy and Eddie) who emphasize consistency, craft, and maintaining their bold bourbon identity
