The compnay was founded by a handful of Oregon winemaking professionals in 2002 and quickly gained an award from Food \u0026amp; Wine Magazine for Best American Pinot Noir under $20. Since then the berry-laden, spicy Pinot Noir has featured twice in the Wine Spectator Top 100, and the Chardonnay has become the best-selling Oregon wine from that variety in the domestic market. A to Z works with numerous vineyards around the region to achieve consistency across vintages and combat weather challenges, while maintaining the brand's good value image. All of the vineyards are farmed according to biodynamic principles. In 2006, A to Z Wineworks teamed up with San Antonio Spurs coach Greg Popovich to buy the Rex Hill Winery and vineyards.
