Detailed Description

Previously only released as part of single casks, Nikka decided to add their Coffey Malt to their core range in 2014. Coffey stills are normally used for grain whisky production, and they make the malt delightfully fruity and spicy. This is one of our favourites here at caskcartel. Distilled in the continuous Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo distillery, which were imported from Scotland in 1963. A malt whisky made in a grain whisky still, you won’t find such a dram outside Japan.

Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky (No Box) Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: The aromas have alight fruit notes with malt and spice.

Palate: Firm, powerful. A well-balanced attack gives equal footing to aromas of peat, smoke, spices.

Finish: Finish is long, spicy and smooth.

Miyagikyo distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery. It is located near Sendai, the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, T?hoku region, Japan. The distillery is owned by Nikka Whisky Distilling, and was opened in 1969.
