Caves São João was founded in 1920 and is one of Portugal’s most historic and respected wine producers, particularly known for its long-aging wines from the Bairrada region. Quinta do Poço do Lobo serves as the estate’s flagship vineyard, producing structured reds capable of extended maturation. The winery became famous for releasing perfectly aged wines directly from its cellars, often decades after harvest. These late releases demonstrate exceptional balance and maturity achieved through careful storage and traditional methods. The 1986 vintage represents the house’s commitment to longevity, authenticity, and the preservation of Portugal’s fine wine heritage.
