You’ve heard about Ichiro Akuto, right? If you haven’t, it’s about time you did! He is a rock star of the Japanese whisky world, and his family have been in the alcoholic beverage industry since the 1600s. Ichiro’s father ran the Hanyu distillery and experimented with whisky making until his unfortunate bankruptcy. Ichiro then founded his own Chichibu distillery, acquired the remains of the Hanyu stock and sold it as his own. Here, we have Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu Malt Dream Cask EH & YT. It was distilled in 2010 and and matured in a single cask, making it limited in quantity. Like everything else from Ichiro, it’s a true delight!

Nose: Full-bodied, smooth. A mellow peat softly coats the aromatic palette at first, growing more powerful with time.
Palate: Smooth and soft with good sweetness and winter spice.
Finish: Finish is long, spicy and smooth.

Chichibu distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery. Founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, and operational from 2008, it was the first new Japanese distillery since 1973. It is located at Chichibu, a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
