Producer Information
The Chionetti family has linked its history to the vine since the 19th century. The turning point came in 1912 when Giuseppe Chionetti purchased the farmhouse in San Luigi, an area particularly suited to vineyards, in the municipality of Dogliani. From this moment on, the Chionetti family linked their name to that of the sweet, which they sold to the largest traders in the area. Gradually the sale of bottles and therefore the name became established, until with Quinto, grandson of the founder Giuseppe, the marketing of bottles with the family name was definitively established. Andrea, Quinto's son, explored the possibilities of the property's vineyards until bringing the crus produced by the family to three (in his time Sorì del Briccolero, San Luigi, Vigna La Costa). Nicola and Quinto Chionetti In those years the company grew significantly to the point of linking its name to Dogliani wine, thus starting to export abroad and to the USA. In 1988, in the period of maximum growth, Andrea, together with his daughter Elena, died in a car accident. It will be Quinto who will carry on the work that he had passed on to his son years earlier and lead the company into the new millennium. Maria, Andrea's wife, decides to help him in 1999, abandoning her job at the bank. Finally, in 2013 Quinto handed over the reins to his nephew Nicola, who decided to carry on the tradition of Dogliani production, recovering the production of La Costa already desired by his father. Starting from 2015, the Chionetti family has purchased 3 vineyards in the Barolo area which are vinified separately and will therefore give rise to three Barolos.
