Ron de El Salvador Cihuatan Grand Reserva 8 Year Old Solera Rum

Produced by Licorera Cihuatán, a subsidiary of Ingenio La Cabaña of El Salvador. This rum is made using a 100-year-old sugar cane mill. Licorera Cihuatán distillery was established in 2004 and began distilling and aging their rums. After fermentation the rum is aged in used American oak bourbon barrels using the Solera method. El Salvador’s first rum, this spirit is handcrafted by 100% by Salvadoran hands. “Our rum’s mystical surroundings, our sugarcane and aging methods, mixed with our hard work and patience, give Ron Cihuatán 8 Years an unmistakable quality you can easily taste” (producer).

Nose: Sweet sugarcane aromas on the nose, molasses, orange, honey, floral notes, and eucalyptus.

Palate: The palate is smooth with notes of chocolate, orange, caramel, vanilla, almond and coffee.

Finish: Warm and smooth.

Distillery Information

The Licoreria Cihuatán is the only distillery in the country to produce quality rum with cane cultivated exclusively in the country sugar and has worked in the famous refinery "Ingenio La Cabaña" which has more than a century of history their back, he has played a key role in the development of the surrounding community and traditional, typical culture of the area. In this case, it is a complete control of the production from the plant to bottling rum. Cihuatán distillery is deeply linked to the territory actually, in fact, part of the revenue is used to finance archaeological excavations site of the same name, unfortunately interrupted by lack of funds.
