The palate is powerful and complex. A wine of great finesse and an impressive length in the mouth.

        Producer Information

Vignobles Alain Château is a collection of four châteaux in the Loire Valley and Bordeaux. The company was established in 2005 and includes the Anjou-based Château Bellerive, Château de la Guimonière, and Château de Varennes, and the Saint-Émilion-based Château Yon-Figeac. The company owns around 38 hectares (94 acres) in the Loire Valley, dedicated almost completely to the production of white wines. Château Bellrive, located in Quarts de Chaume, spans 12 hectares (30 acres) on the left bank of the Loire River and produces sweet wines from 100 percent Chenin Blanc. At harvest, botrytis-affected fruit is picked in successive passes, or tries, then pressed and fermented in barrel. North of Château Bellrive in Coteaux du Layon Chaume, Château de la Guimonière also produces a sweet white wine from Chenin Blanc, as well as a dry Anjou Blanc, Anjou Rouge, and Cabernet d'Anjou. The 19 hectare (47 acre) estate is planted to 16 hectares (40 acres) of Chenin Blanc and three hectares (seven acres) of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Château de Varennes, is also situated in the Anjou region, in Savennières, and is dedicated to the production of dry Chenin Blanc. The seven-hectare (17-acre) estate has sandstone and shale soils with vines planted south and southeast to receive ample sunlight in the region's continental climate. The only estate located outside the Loire, Château Yon-Figeac, carries Grand Cru Classé status from Saint-Émilion's 1955 Classification. The château was purchased by Alain Château in 2015 and produces three tiers of Merlot-dominant Right Bank blends: Château Yon-Figeac Grand Cru Classé, the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Roches Yon Figeac, and Yon Saint Martin, designated Saint-Émilion AOP.
