Producer Information
Cantina Terre del Barolo is an Italian wine cooperative based just north of the iconic village of Castiglione Falletto in the east of the Barolo wine region, Piedmont. It produces wines from this eponymous DOCG as well as a wide number of labels across the Langhe area, including Nebbiolo d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba, Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba and Barbera d'Alba DOC and DOCG-classified wines. The winery was first founded in 1958 when Arnaldo Rivera formed a cooperative with 22 fellow winegrowers. Today, Cantina Terre del Barolo consists of approximately 400 winegrowers who together cultivate roughly 650 hectares (1600 acres) of vineyards in Barolo and the wider Langhe – many are high-profile names producing well-regarded wines in their own right. The winery produces around 38,000 hectoliters (3.8 million liters) of wine per year. The estate's most well-known brands include its single-vineyard I Vigneti del Barolo and I Vigneti wine labels. The I Vigneti del Barolo wine range includes a collection of Riserva and Barolo DOCG wines, including the Barolo DOCG Riserva Castello. The Nebbiolo grapes for this wine are sourced from the estate's Castello vineyards and are aged for four years in French oak barrels before being bottled and aged for a further 18 months. Cantina Terre del Barolo's portfolio also comprises smaller quantities of Verduno Pelaverga, Freisa, Grignolino, Favorita and Chardonnay-based wines. The estate also makes a Grappa di Barolo and a Metodo Classico Spumante Brut wine from 70 percent Chardonnay and 30 percent Pinot Noir grapes.
