        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: From a 15-hectare vineyard on gravel-rich soils, the 2019 Château de Bel-Air offers up aromas of petals, sweet red berries, plums and fresh herbs, followed by a medium-bodied, lively palate framed by powdery tannins and concluding with a somewhat herbaceous finish that depresses my score for what is otherwise a creditable Lalande de Pomerol.
        • James Suckling: Beautiful and complex aromas of orange peel, fruit tea, hazelnuts and berries follow through to a medium body with ultra-fine tannins and polished, refined tannins. Finesse with focus.

        Producer Information

It was in 2011 that Michel de Laet Derache, a private banker, decided to take over the management of the Château de Bel-Air. In 1960, his father, wishing to commemorate their escape to Lourdes twenty years earlier, took the very young Doctor of Laws to the South West for the first time. At that time, his father maintained good relations with a certain landlady, among others, who was located in Libourne where he took his meals. At that time, the wine of the property was not on the menu but Mr. Joseph de Laet Derache always arrived thanks to the mother "Loubat" to have his meal accompanied by a noble beverage Petrus 47. The Belgians did not not only the reputation of living well… The young Doctor of Law was starting his apprenticeship. The fifth generation of private bankers, the family prioritizes excellence in service and work over profitability. It carries them! He has now decided to apply the same philosophy to this new project. He pulls out all the stops and decides to give back to this marvelous terroir, which he has just acquired, everything it deserves while maintaining the tradition. Michel de Laet Derache loves nature and work.
