The business was founded by orthopaedic surgeon Andrew Weeber, who bought the 196-hectare (490-acre) estate at Appledore in Kent in 2003, and planted 20ha of vines the following year. Weeber sold a majority share to Lord Michael Ashcroft in 2013. The debut vintages (2006) of Brut Reserve and Brut Blanc de Blancs were released in 2010 to immediate acclaim.
