The estate was formerly classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel and, when the classification was formally dropped in 2011, became a part of the marketing group Les Exceptionnels with five other former Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel properties. Château Ormes de Pez lies within the small hamlet area of Pez (a separate estate, Château de Pez, lies over the road), just west of Sait-Estèphe village.
