Down Northern Ireland. It was founded in 2016 by entrepreneur Dr Terry Cross OBE. The first distiller was Aaron Flaherty who learned his trade at Diageo distilleries in Scotland and Bushmills. He left in 2022 to be replaced by a distiller with a similar cross-Irish sea resume, Williams Stafford, formerly of the Boatyard Distillery and Aultmore. The first new make came off the stills in 2021 and will be legally whiskey in 2024. Therefore the Hinch whiskey range including single pot still, blended whiskeys, single malts and peated expressions is currently made up of sourced stock, aged and blended at the distillery.
