The first vintage produced was 1992. The soils in the Siepi vineyard are especially deep, and the site is surrounded by forests to keep it cool. These conditions give rise to abundant aromas of sweet black cherry, underbrush and blue wild flower. The town of Castellina played an important role in the creation of the Chianti region. The estate is spread across 650 hectares, 117 of which are located in excellent locations including Fonterutoli, Siepi, Badiola, Belvedere, and Caggio. The hills reach an altitude between 230-500 meters above sea level. The winery has a very traditional approach to vine cultivation and aging. They strive for persistent development and consistency that has made the wines the benchmark for top-class Chianti Classico.
