The Domaine Charles Noëllat, originally based in Vosne-Romanée, was purchased by Lalou Bize-Leroy in 1988 and became Domaine Leroy. The family has kept the rights to the name and today, Charles Noëllat operates as a négociant brand (ostensibly produced in Bligny-lès-Beaune, a village just south of Beaune – likely out of the Cellier des Ursulines). The few remaining, original, wines of Domaine Charles Noëllat are highly sought-after and very rare. The Noëllat family have a long wine producing history in Vosne-Romanée, initiated by brothers Charles and Ernest in the early 20th Century. Both Charles' and Ernest's descendents are vignerons with Domaine Georges Noëllat and Domaine Michel Noëllat et Fils respectively.
