Malolactic fermentation was carried out in the barriques. The fruit is ripe, but mixes notes of red and black berries, which are well-integrated with sweet spices and smoke aromas from the barrel. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with plenty of smoky flavors and abundant, fine-grained, slightly dusty tannins that call for more time in the bottle, ending slightly warm. 2011 was a warm year, and it shows in this wine.
