//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/products/33_3cc4127d-4d2a-471e-a359-43e19a69fc57.jpg?v=1675336475
1975-dom-perignon-brut-champagne
1975 | Dom Perignon | Brut Champagne

Champagne: 1975 | Dom Perignon | Brut Champagne

The 1975 original release from Dom Perignon is a magnificent wine. It is known for its elegant, balanced house style made from equal proportions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The Pol Roger champagne portfolio includes a non vintage brut, a vintage brut, a demi sec, a brut nature, a rosé and a blanc de blancs. The Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill Champagne was first released in 1975 to honor the great man, who had been close friends with Odette Pol Roger as well as a big fan of Champagne. The blend used in the Sir Winston Churchill cuvée is a closely guarded secret but is dominated by Pinot Noir for structure and strength and finished with Chardonnay for its elegance. Pol Roger grows just over half of its grapes on its 89 hectares (220 acres) of estate vineyards. The rest is supplied by contract growers with whom the company has long-term relationships. Everything is done by hand in the winery and Pol Roger is home to the largest remuage team in Champagne. The cellar of the champagne house is one of the deepest cellars in Epernay. The winery has had considerable investment in the last ten years. The house was officially established in 1849, although at least two generations had been involved in the growing Champagne industry before Pol Roger. In the mid-1850s, export became a key focus and the house began to eschew the traditional sweetness of Champagne, producing a drier style that was more in line with British tastes.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/products/18_d9956266-5b3c-4c71-8f01-05c814c49260.png?v=1676877257
1979-chateau-margaux-margaux
1979 | Castillo Margaux | margarita

Vino Tinto: 1979 | Castillo Margaux | margarita

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/products/25_9a5be384-cee4-419d-82df-bb483362845e.png?v=1679988083
1961-chateau-lafite-rothschild-pauillac-1
1961 | Château Lafite Rothschild | Pauillac

Red Wine: 1961 | Château Lafite Rothschild | Pauillac

Deep color for Lafite, a sweet, caramel, cedary, lead pencil-scented nose, rich, medium-bodied, spicy flavors with noticeable tannin, high acidity, and a long finish.

Order from the Largest & Most Trusted Premium Spirits Marketplace!

Featured in

ROLLING STONE

MEN'S JOURNAL

US WEEKLY

NOTICE: Many other small liquor store sites may end up cancelling your order due to the high demand, unavailability or inaccurate inventory counts. Other examples of the 1961 Lafite have displayed a light color with considerable orange/rush, attenuated, thin flavors, and excessive acidity. Lafite Rothschild is known for its perfume, elegance, finesse and harmony, in contrast to the more powerful Latour and Mouton Rothschild. Nevertheless, great vintages can age for 50 years or more. The precise blend of grand vin can vary depending on the vintage. It often contains between 80-95 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot making up much of the rest. In the winery, each plot of grapes is kept seperate for the fermentation to preserve their terroir and allow for maximum control at blending. The wine is aged for up to 20 months in new oak barrels. Carruades de Lafite is the second wine, with a strong following in its own right. More Merlot (30-50 percent) appears in the final blend. It is aged for 18-20 months, with 80 percent in barrels and 20 percent in tank. The Lafite Rothschild vineyard covers around 112 hectares (277 acres) on sunny, well-drained sites made up of fine gravel and sand over limestone subsoil. The vineyard is divided into three parts: the vines on the hillsides around the château provide the core material for the grand vin, while the adjacent Carruades plateau to the west is more responsible for the second wine that bears its name. Additionally a 4.5ha (11 acre) plot in Saint-Estèphe also belongs to the estate; unusually it has permission to include the fruit in its Pauillac-classified wines. Around 70 percent of the vineyards are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with 25 percent to Merlot, 3 percent to Cabernet Franc and 2 percent to Petit Verdot. The average age of the vines is 40 years old. The neighboring property Duhart-Milon is under the same ownership, and managed by the same team as Lafite. Domaines Barons de Rothschild also owns the Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Rieussec in Sauternes, Château L'Évangile in Pomerol, and three Bordeaux brands, Légende, Saga and Résérve Spéciale. Properties further afield include Domaine d'Aussières in Languedoc, Los Vascos in Chile and Bodegas Caro in Mendoza, Argentina. The estate began to earn its reputation as a winemaking property in the late 17th Century with Jacques se Ségur establishing the vineyard in the 1670s. By the second half of the following century it was known as "The King's Wine" at Versailles after the Maréchal de Richelieu appointed Lafite as the "Fountain of Youth". In 1787, American Founding Father Thomas Jefferson acquired a passion for the wines of Lafite upon visiting Bordeaux whilst serving as America's ambassador. He composed a list classifying what he considered to be the top wines of the Médoc, including Château Lafite with Château Margaux, La Tour Segur and Haut-Brion with remarkable accuracy; 75 years later, Lafite was one of the four château to be ranked as first growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Jefferson remained a staunch customer to the estate upon returning to his homeland, ordering large quantities on wine with his initials marked on each bottle. Today, these bottles fetch astronomical prices at auction, breaking records for the most expensive bottles of wine sold. The property was purchased by Baron James de Rothschild in 1868, who passed away just three months after leaving it to his three sons Alphonse, Gustave and Edmond. Throughout much of the 20th Century, despite many sublime wines, Lafite Rothschild was regarded as an inconsistent producer but since the mid-1990s it has become more reliable – in fact, it regularly makes claims for wine of the vintage.

Red Wine: 1975 | Château Lafite Rothschild | Pauillac

Bright crimson garnet, wide water rim.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/products/4_e6b90156-6da4-4c5b-a454-c39995a21482.jpg?v=1680101942
1975-caymus-vineyards-cabernet-sauvignon
1975 | Caymus Vineyards | Cabernet Sauvignon

Red Wine: 1975 | Caymus Vineyards | Cabernet Sauvignon

Powerful modern reds with the ability to age. The Wagner family were farmers with deep roots in the Napa Valley – in 1857, Chuck Wagner’s great-great grandfather captained a wagon train to California from Bible Grove, Missouri. Working together for decades, Chuck Wagner and his parents established the family’s work ethic, appetite for innovation, down-to-earth sensibility, and deep appreciation of the pleasures of good food and wine enjoyed with family and friends.Today, Caymus Cabernet is one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated wines. Made from grapes farmed in 8 of Napa Valley’s 16 appellations, the wine has a signature style that is dark in color, with rich fruit and ripe tannins – as approachable in youth as it is in maturity. Chuck Wagner continues to make two world-renowned Cabernet Sauvignons – Caymus Napa Valley and Caymus Special Selection. Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is the only wine in the world to be honored twice as Wine Spectator magazine’s “Wine of the Year” for the 1984 and 1990 vintages.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/files/40_ea6d657b-9a33-42af-be74-8f3cc74985ff.png?v=1701029951
1975-taittinger-comtes-de-champagne-blanc-de-blancs
1975 | Taittinger | Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs

Sparkling Wine: 1975 | Taittinger | Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs

The palate is powerful and complex. Based in the city of Reims, Taittinger is known for its Chardonnay-dominant cuvées, the pinnacle of which is the blanc de blancs prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne. The family-owned estate has approximately 290 hectares (710 acres) of vines, around half of which is planted to Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and a small amount of Pinot Meunier making up the rest. These vineyards contribute 50 percent of Taittinger's output, with the rest coming from growers who have historical relationships with the house. Taittinger's Brut Reserve NV is composed of 40 percent Chardonnay, with the two Pinots making up the remainder. This makes for a fresh and reasonably delicate house style. In addition to this, Taittinger makes a range of Champagne styles, including a demi-sec, several rosés and an array of single-vineyard, vintage and otherwise limited-edition wines. The Comtes de Champagne is Taittinger's top wine, and was first made in the 1952 vintage. The grapes are mostly sourced from grand cru vineyards across Avizé, Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Oak is used sparingly to impart flavors of brioche and grilled almonds, rather than to add any tannins or weight. The bottles are kept for at least 10 years in the underground chalk galleries beneath the former Saint-Nicaise Abbey in Reims (now the Taittinger headquarters). Taittinger's flagship is considered one of the most consistent blanc de blancs (effectively a Chardonnay-only Champagne) from the region. Taittinger also produces a somewhat rarer Comtes de Champagne Brut Rosé. The blend for this wine is more Pinot Noir-dominant with only 30 percent Chardonnay in the base wine and 15 percent of the Pinot Noir vinified as a red wine (in other words, fermented on skins) prior to blending. The house was established under Pierre Taittinger in 1932. His son François took the reins in 1945 and built up the cellars and the vineyards, establishing Taittinger as a top Champagne house. In 2005, the company was sold to US investment group Starwood, but was bought back a year later by the family.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/files/77_e26af323-44a8-4c47-be0f-0350b922b3b3.jpg?v=1706979242
