Complex and intense, the nose shows a very Cabernet Sauvignon profile. Like its color, the aromatic bouquet is also quite dense and seduces the nose with its delicious fruit and delicate touches of oak. With great finesse, the palate gradually reveals a supple and slender texture, which carries an explosion of flavors. The finish lingers for a very long time, offering a great elegance and nobility.

Producer Information

Château Boyd-Cantenac is a wine producer situated in the Margaux appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. The estate's Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant grand vin was awarded third growth status in the 1855 Classification of Médoc and Graves. The history of the château dates back to 1754 when Jacques Boyd purchased the estate and gave his name to the vineyard. The Boyd family came to Bordeaux from Belfast in the 17th Century and were originally in the trade of commerce, international relations and emigration. The estate was acquired by John Lewis Brown in 1806 and, after numerous changes in ownership, was later purchased by the current proprietors, the Guillemet family, in 1932. The Guillemet family already held Château Pouget (acquired in 1906) and both estates share winemaking facilities in the southern half of the Margaux appellation (châteaux Kirwan and Brane-Cantenac are neighbors). The wines are currently overseen by technical director and lone-rider Lucien Guillemet, who works outside of the Union des Grands Cru de Bordeaux – the umbrella group that works on the promotion of the region's grand cru estates. Boyd-Cantenac's main Médoc vineyard (which covers 17 hectares, or 42 acres) is planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot also featuring in the grand vin. The grapes are harvested by hand and are fermented and barrel-aged individually by block. The grand vin is blended from the best barrels, with the remainder put aside to be blended with wines from younger vines for the estate's second wines. The estate also produces a raft of "second wines": Jacques Boyd, La Croix de Boyd-Cantenac and Joséphine de Boyd – all under the Margaux appellation. The winery also produces Clos Maucaillou, a Bordeaux Supérieur, produced mainly from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/products/20_a7eb5243-d827-4e42-82b1-ac41027134ad.png?v=1678112171
