The harvested plants are roasted in a conical stone over, milled by a tahona, naturally fermented in wooden vats, and double-distilled in copper pots. At one point in time the mezcal was produced by the brand Mezcal Los Javis but that relationship ended. As of 2020 it is being produced by mezcalero Carlos Mendes Blas of Cruz de Fuego and Cuentacuentos.
