Distillery Information

Tomatin Distillery was founded in 1897 near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, positioned high above sea level in a remote and rugged landscape. The distillery expanded significantly during the mid-20th century, becoming one of Scotland’s largest malt producers by still count, while maintaining a spirit style known for softness and balance. Tomatin places strong emphasis on careful maturation and a fruit-driven profile, often favoring gentle oak influence over heavy peat or smoke. In the 1980s, it became the first Scottish distillery to be owned by a Japanese company, a transition that reinforced its focus on precision, consistency, and long-term quality. Today, Tomatin is respected for producing elegant Highland single malts that combine approachability with craftsmanship and tradition.
