After the grains are sourced, they are mashed and fermented before being distilled in Tennessee through a copper still. The bourbon is then matured for eight years months in charred, white American oak barrels. The intense southern heat causes the wooden barrel staves to expand and contract, interacting with the whiskey and contributing notes of saddle leather, burning tobacco and barbeque as it matures.
