Livio Sassetti was one of the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino in 1967. The business has remained family owned and operated for three generations. The Podere Pertimali has 16 hectares (40 acres) of vineyards on the Montosoli hill, north of Montalcino. Sassetti makes produces three Brunellos: a generic wine and a Riserva, plus a Rosso di Montalcino. As well as the more traditional wines, there is an IGT Toscana wine, Fili di Seta, which is a Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend. In 1999, the family purchased the La Querciolina property within the Montecucco DOC on the Tuscan coast.
