Tracing its heritage back to the early 1900s, the estate underwent a defining shift when Stefan Steinmetz took over full winemaking responsibilities in 1999–2000 at the age of just 21 following the sudden illness of his father, Günther. Guided today by Stefan and his wife Sammie, the winery has expanded from 3 to roughly 13 to 14 hectares of ultra-steep slopes (some reaching staggering 80% gradients) spanning a 20-kilometer stretch of legendary, slate-rich Grand Crus including Brauneberger Juffer, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, and Dhroner Hofberg, alongside painstakingly restored historic terraces like Wintricher Geierslay.
