The distillery had a varied history and, like many Highland malt producers, supplied much of its whisky to blending houses rather than developing a large single-malt following. Glen Albyn was eventually acquired by Distillers Company Limited and continued production into the twentieth century before finally closing in 1983. The buildings were later demolished, making surviving Glen Albyn bottlings increasingly sought after by collectors.
