The company was founded in 1907 with just 27 winegrowers. Today, St. Michael-Eppan is considerably larger, and produces four wine ranges: Appius, Sanct Valentin, Selection and Classic. The Sanct Valentin wine range launched in 1986 with a range of high-quality wines made of Ruländer (Pinot Gris), Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay. It now makes St. Michael-Eppan's flagship wine, a varietal Sauvignon Blanc produced from vines ranging between 10-28 years old. Once harvested, a majority are fermented in stainless steel tanks with the remaining fermented and aged in oak barrels. Kellerei St. Michael-Eppan has now built on this success with the release of Appius in 2011.
