To do this, they researched and found the ancient varieties that these wines were made with. As a result, they became one of the first wineries to bring the famous Falerno wine back to the market. The Villa Matilde winery lies at the foot of the Roccamonfina volcano, a few kilometres from Naples, and is known for being one of the wineries to have revived the famous “divine Falerno” cult wine. This was a famous wine made in ancient Rome but the main varieties used to make it became extinct with the devastating phylloxera disease.
