There are 300 hectares (750 acres) planted with vines on the property. The proximity to the coast provides the vineyards with plentiful sea breezes which moderate the warm, sunny climate, while at the same time minimizing cloud cover. This means that the grapes can reach full ripeness while retaining acidity, which is essential to make a complex, balanced wine. There is a diverse range of soil types, and a correspondingly diverse range of grape varieties – along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah, Guado al Tasso also makes a white wine based on Vermentino.
