The château lies just north of the small town of Listrac-Médoc, several kilometers southwest of Saint-Julien and a similar distance northwest of Margaux. The estate spans some 46 hectares (114 acres) on predominantly classic Médoc gravel soils with a clay-and-limestone subsoil. The vineyard itself is composed of roughly equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (around 40 percent each) blended with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vines average over 30 years old. Château Fourcas Dupré's grand vin is produced from the estate's best fruit, and is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, a third of which are new.
