The winery was established in 2002 by Napa-based winemaker Ed Snider. Beau Vigne makes limited-production wines from its estate vineyard and sourced fruit from established vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma County like Bacigalupi, Dutton Ranch, and Lewelling. The Stags Ridge Vineyard spans less than four hectares (9 acres) and is planted to 3ha (8 acres) of Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest to Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The site, composed of volcanic soils, is located at a high 1650-ft (503m) elevation in the southeast of Napa Valley and overlooks the Pritchard Hill Gap as well as the distinguished Stagecoach Vineyard.
