The 60 hectares (148 acres) of vineyards are planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller quantities of Merlot. The château lies on the \"Route des Grands Vins\" opposite the renowned second growth estate, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. When created in 1870 Château du Glana comprised 5ha (12 acres) of vines. After a series of owners and vineyard extensions, the property was acquired by Gabriel Meffre in 1961. Under his supervision the vineyard increased further to 43ha (106 acres). Key purchases included parcels from the nearby third growth estate, Château Lagrange. The Meffre family still own the property today, with Jean-Paul and his two sons Ludovic and Julien leading the management of the château and its vineyards.
