Established in its modern form in 1989 when Gilbert Clusel and Brigitte Roch combined their family lineages—which trace back to a 1935 planting of Les Grandes-Places using Serine, an ancient, low-yielding clone of Syrah—the estate secured organic certification in 2002 and is masterfully directed today by fourth-generation vigneron Guillaume Clusel. Managing an expanding 14-to-18-hectare estate that spans steep, manual-intensive plots of decomposed mica-schist and iron-rich arzels in Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu, alongside Gamay and Aligoté parcels in the Coteaux du Lyonnais, the family enforces a strictly minimalist cellar philosophy. Hand-harvested fruit undergoes partial destemming, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous wild yeasts, and gentle aging for up to two years in large, neutral Burgundy oak barrels with a maximum of 20% new oak and minimal sulfur adjustments. The resulting highly allocated portfolio is headlined by their single-vineyard masterpieces—including the legendary Les Grandes Places and the mineral-driven La Viallière—alongside their approachable Les Schistes cuvée, all yielding an incredibly pure, chiseled Northern Rhône style that flawlessly balances structural power, dark fruit, and peppery, floral complexity.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"CaskCartel.com","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50470760579210,"sku":null,"price":999.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0050\/2395\/7103\/files\/93_d098a2f6-ee19-4aae-8c3d-7ea2d62dc907.webp?v=1792088208","url":"https:\/\/caskcartel.com\/products\/2020-clusel-roch-cote-rotie-cuvee-vialliere-magnum","provider":"CaskCartel.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
