This 40 years of aged rum was distilled in 1977, finished in Bourbon Cask. On the nose of this charred-mahogany-colored rum, vanilla, and crushed honeyed almond character, yet here it acts as an overlay to the sweet maple syrup and toffee notes with light touches of oak in the background. It hits the palate like a freight train laden with rich almost oily viscous character of Bourbon power, showing again vanilla extract, spirit of rum, toasted caramelized and bettered toffee crumble, and retains a lovely balance.
