The whisky spent its first 13 months in three new chestnut octave casks before being transferred to a second-fill ex-bourbon quarter cask for a further 23 months. This combination develops layers of rich dried fruit, roasted nuts, dark caramel, and resinous wood, complemented by warming spice and a refreshing herbal character. Bottled at 52% ABV, it showcases the influence of chestnut maturation alongside the sweeter vanilla and oak notes contributed by bourbon cask ageing.

Retribution 3 Year Old Cask #PR006 - Chestnut Cask Ages Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich raisins, dried fruits, mixed nuts, and dark caramel, accompanied by pine resin and fragrant wood.

Palate: Concentrated dried fruit, roasted nuts, and warming spice unfold alongside dark caramel and resinous oak. The distillery produces English whisky alongside other spirits, including rum and gin, with an emphasis on small-scale production and distinctive flavour profiles. Its whisky-making process incorporates locally sourced ingredients where possible, traditional floor-malted barley, fermentation using selected yeasts, and direct-fired copper pot stills. All mashing, fermentation, distillation, and maturation take place on-site, allowing close control over the production process. Retribution represents the growing English whisky movement, combining traditional distilling techniques with an experimental approach to cask selection and maturation.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0050/2395/7103/files/21_84525e94-82ff-4f6b-949c-71348086d79b.webp?v=1791988783
