Captain Fraser persevered and eventually found his main market to be in London, far from the moonshiners and tax evaders. Greatness was bestowed upon them 21 years later in 1833 when they became the first Scotch distillery to receive the royal warrant and could henceforth describe their product as ‘The King’s Own Whisky’. They owe it all to King William IV – the original grantor of the royal warrant.
