The farm has always been family run, and the land has passed from father to son throughout its history. The first historical evidence of the farm is from the beginning of the twentieth century, when the farm was led by Attilio Pecchenino (the grandfather) and had little more than 8 hectares of land. In the 70s, the farm was given to Marino Pecchenino (Attilio's son), and in 1987 to Orlando and Attilio (Marino's two sons) who currently own it and manage it. At present, after having recently bought a new farm (Bricco Botti), the total land owned by Pecchenino is approx. 25 hectares, all in the area of Dogliani. For a couple of year now, Pecchenino has expended much energy on making his dolcettos more elegant and appetizing abroad as well as in Italy. The results clearly show in his two main house Dolcettos: the San Luigi and the Siri d'Jermu that recently was upgraded to Dogliani DOCG status. Pecchenino winery is managed in a sustainable fashion: Orlando is convinced that the quality of his wine is strictly related to the natural health of his vineyard. His main objective is that of growing the best possible grapes with the lowest possible impact on nature. In the vineyards, he opts for organic compost and avoids the use of any chemical products for weed or pest control; his treatments in the vineyards are all natural unless it becomes absolutely necessary.

["Country_Italy","Other_Wine","Producer_Pecchenino","Region_Piedmont","RK100124","Source_WineOnlineDelivery0124","Type_Red Wine","Varietal_Nebbiolo
"option1":"Default Title","option2":null,"option3":null
["Default Title
["//caskcartel.com/cdn/shop/files/36_763f2edc-a061-4a76-be9f-da980d19cb9d.png?v=1704979196
//caskcartel.com/cdn/shop/files/36_763f2edc-a061-4a76-be9f-da980d19cb9d.png?v=1704979196
Title

Red Wine: 2017 | Pecchenino | Le Coste

Aromas of cherry, strawberry and plum are joined by flavors of eucalyptus, iron and tobacco in this powerful red.

Order from the Largest & Most Trusted Premium Spirits Marketplace!

Featured in

ROLLING STONE

MEN'S JOURNAL

US WEEKLY

NOTICE: Many other small liquor store sites may end up cancelling your order due to the high demand, unavailability or inaccurate inventory counts. We have partnerships consisting of a large network of licensed retailers from within the United States, Europe and across the world ensuring orders are fulfilled.

Producer: Pecchenino

Ratings: WA | 91  JS | 96

Vintage: 2017

Size: 750ml

ABV: 14.3%

Varietal: Nebbiolo

Country/Region: Italy, Piedmont

Detailed Description

Aromas of cherry, strawberry and plum are joined by flavors of eucalyptus, iron and tobacco in this powerful red. Detailed Description

      Aromas of cherry, strawberry and plum are joined by flavors of eucalyptus, iron and tobacco in this powerful red. Feels open initially, then astringent tannins clamp down on the finish. There's plenty of fruit here though.

      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: Understated on first nose, the Pecchenino 2017 Barolo le Coste di Monforte lacks the precision that is delivered in cooler vintages than this one was. I'd go with a medium-term drinking window and don't expect too much complexity. The bouquet delivers cherry cola and dried plum aromas with tarry spice. There is more bite or crunch in the mouth, thanks to acidity and structure.
      • James Suckling: Loads of dried flowers on the nose with dark fruit, such as ripe strawberries and plums. It’s full-bodied with super integrated tannins that give a dusty texture and creaminess. Flavorful finish of fruit and hazelnut with some smoke.
