Like many producers in these regions, Piattelli specializes in high-altitude wines made from Malbec, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Torrontés. The main winery is based in Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza, and began operating in 2002 with a maximum capacity of 40,000 cases. Piattelli Vineyards opened a second winery in Cafayate in 2012, with a gravity-flow vinification system – one of the only ones in the country. Concrete egg wine fermenters have also been installed to optimize quality. The vineyards in Luján de Cuyo reach 3084ft (940m) above sea level and are planted with Malbec, which is used to make the Grand Reserve and Premium Reserve Malbec wines.
