      Detailed Description

Powerful and complex, this shows the density that comes from Chardonnay sourced on the hill of Corton. The rich tropical-fruit flavors are structured, which gives this wine strong aging potential.

        Producer Information

Domaines Albert Bichot is a leading family-owned and run négociant house and estate owner in Burgundy, formed in 1831 and now based in the town of Beaune. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties are unsurprisingly the main focus; the company also produces red wines from the Gamay grape in Beaujolais to the south. Albert Bichot, which is currently run by Albéric Bichot (who took over in 1996 and represents the sixth generation to run the wine company), owns more than 100 hectares (250 acres) of sustainably farmed vineyards divided among six estates. The majority of the Côte d'Or vineyard holdings are run organically. Domaine du Pavillon in Pommard boasts holdings across Côte de Beaune, including the Corton Grand Cru Monopole Clos des Maréchaudes as well as Corton-Charlemagne, Les Charmes in Meursault, Le Clos des Mouches in Beaune and Les Santenots in Volnay – among many others. Meanwhile Domaine du Clos-Frantin – based in Nuits-Saints-Georges – covers the Côte de Nuits producing grands crus from Le Chambertin, Echezeaux, Grands-Echezeaux, Clos de Vougeot and Richebourg. The estate also boasts a 1.75-hectare (4.3-acre) holding in the Vosne Romanée Premier Cru Aux Malconsorts. The Château-Gris, also in Nuits-Saint-Georges, is a smaller estate covering only 3.5 hectares (8.6 acres) although it is a monopole site (a vineyard with a single owner) producing two wines. These are: the red Nuits-Saint-Georges Château Gris Premier Cru; and a village-level white, dubbed "Les Terrasses" from 0.7 hectares (1.7 acres) of Chardonnay grown at the upper end of the vineyard. Away from the Côte d'Or, Bichot runs Château Long-Depaquit in Chablis. The estate has holdings across almost all the Chablis grands crus vineyards including the flagship so-called monopole site La Moutonne. La Moutonne is a small vineyard of just 2.5 hectares (six acres) located on the grand cru hillside of Chablis. Not officially recognized by the French appellations body (the INAO) as an individual climat of the Chablis Grand Cru appellation, La Moutonne is 95 percent Vaudésir and five percent in Preuses. This small vineyard was excluded from classification when the Chablis Grand Cru appellation was drafted back in 1938. As well as La Moutonne, Long-Depaquit has a wide range of vineyard holdings across coveted grand and premier cru sites, as well as a range of Chablis village-level and Petit Chablis vineyards.
