The Rosso di Tenuta Valgiano is a discovery that evolves in the glass in an amazing way. The ruby ​​red reflected in the glass is iridescent and brilliant. The fruity scents tell of red citrus fruits and compote of small undergrowth fruits, while the floral ones of withered flowers emerge, both intertwined with notes of aromatic herbs. Then here come touches of tobacco and leather that further enrich the whimsical bouquet. Tasting is therefore the last and further confirmation of an extraordinary wine, soft, fresh, with dense and integrated tannins, with a sapidity that slips into the remarkable length. Tenuta di Valgiano is the gateway to a different Tuscany. The manicured estates of Montalcino seem a world away; here in the hills above the city of Lucca, dense forests hide weather-worn villas and older-vine vineyards, with climbing herbs winding round “palistorti,” crooked stakes that mark each vine row. There is something wilder and more alive in these verdant hills, and the grapes grown here share this energy, this vitality. Tenuta di Valgiano makes true “terroir” wines – wines that once you taste them, inspire a feeling that you are being spoken to in a new language that is undeniably exciting. Biodynamics is the core of this new tongue, a rhythm to which everything moves at the estate: the vineyards and olive trees, the bees and chickens. Moreno Petrini and Laura di Collobiano would have it no other way—for them, the soul of Valgiano must be present in each bottle. And that soul is comprised of everything—and everyone—that calls Valgiano home. The humus-rich soils, carefully kept in balance through biodynamic cultivation.
