The dark fruit and color intensity of Les Manyes has been shaken off. Cranberry, red currant, sour cherry and rosehip gives a much brighter impression than in years past. Colored pepper, oregano, toasted almond, green olive and red fruit tea reveal a very ambivalent and at the same time extremely exciting play of aromas.Red aromas in all facets immediately fill the mouth and throat space and determine the reverberation for a long time.

• Wine Advocate: I think the 2018 Les Manyes is more in line with the 2016 than the 2017 is, more elegant, precise, fresh and subtle. This is very young and undeveloped, very primary, a bit shy, reveals notes of violets and strawberry leaf, elegant and nuanced. The palate is very balanced and elegant—it's a very pretty wine.

• James Suckling: Intense orange peel and blueberry with white pepper and violet. Crushed stone, too. Medium-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a juicy finish. Some tarry undertones and a peppery finish to the subtle fruit.

Producer Information

Terroir Al Limit is a Spanish winery in the Priorat region of Catalunya, also making wine from the adjacent Montsant DO. It is known for pure, mineral-rich wines which are not over-extracted or reliant on oak. The red grapes Grenache (known as Garnaxta in Catalonia) and Carignan (Carinyena) are the main focus here. White wines are made in smaller volumes from varieties including Grenache Blanc, Pedro Ximénez and Macabeo (Viura). The business was established in 2001 by German Dominik Huber and South African winemaker Eben Sadie. Huber remains at the helm, while Sadie left in 2012 to focus on his South African projects. It debuted with the first Dits del Terra cuvée, made from purchased fruit. A small wine cellar was bought in 2003; production rose in the following years with various cuvées added to the portfolio. In 2019, the 2016 vintage of Priorat Les Manyes received 100 points from The Wine Advocate.
