                                                                                                                                In 1921, Mr. Jakob HAMMEL Takes over a cooperage workshop in Rolle. For 10 years, he operated this business (manufacturing and repairing barrels, cellar work, winemaking and bottling on the property). From 1931, He began to develop the wine business with his son Richard, a business which he handed over to the latter in 1944. In 1947, Richard HAMMEL Creates the limited company HAMMEL SA to which he transfers his business. The same year, Mr. Charles ROLAZ joined the company as shareholder and director alongside Richard HAMMEL. Together, they gave great impetus to the House which developed considerably. In 1965, Mr. Gilbert HAMMEL Brother of Richard, professor of oenology at the Federal Station of Lausanne, joined the company of which he also became a shareholder and director, and gave it the benefit of his extensive knowledge, thus contributing to the reputation of the House's wines. In 1975, Michel ROLAZ, son of Charles Auguste takes over the majority stake of Richard HAMMEL. In 1979, Mr. Gilbert HAMMEL son of Gilbert, joins the company In 1992, Mr. Charles ROLAZ, son of Michel, integrates society. Today, Domaines ROLAZ and Maison HAMMEL are among the most renowned producers in Switzerland. Owners and tenants of renowned Estates, Clos and Châteaux, they control all stages of wine production, from vine cultivation to bottling. The company cellars the harvest from nearly 150 ha of vineyards, including 8 owned estates in the cantons of Vaud (La Côte and Chablais) and Valais, and 8 other estates, partners for several generations (Vaud and Geneva), vinified, bred and marketed exclusively for Switzerland. In all, no less than 35 grape varieties are cultivated. They represent an impressive range of wines ranging from dry wines to sweet sweet wines. Each year, these Grands Crus and Premiers Grands Crus are rewarded with the highest distinctions in national and international competitions. Charles ROLAZ is part of the Arte Vitis association, bringing together the best Vaud winegrowers. He is also a founding member of LA MEMOIR DES VINS SUISSES.
