      Producer Information

The Armenian wine brand of Zorah has been making waves in the wine industry, of late. It all started when Zorik Gharibian visited Armenia for the first time, many years ago. Zorik’s ancestors belonged to Armenia and when he visited his “native” country for the first time, the winemaker in him didn’t fail to realise the potential of his country’s abilities to make rich and flavourful wine. The sand, climate and other natural resources of Armenia compelled Zorik to buy a vineyard here and introduce the country to traditional winemaking styles. Today more than a decade after starting the Zorah Wine brand in Armenia, Zorik is quite proud of the fact that his wines are considered as one of the best in the world. The deep, historic vineyards of Zorah Wines carry a deep and distinct culture that is reflected in the grapes that are grown here. These vineyards are located at heights between 1400 and 1600m above sea level, at the foothills of the beautiful Biblical Mount Ararat. You can locate these vineyards in Armenia’s premium winemaking region of Vayots Dzor. The popular wines that are crafted by Zorah Wines are Karasi, Yeraz and Voski. Karasi is a red, dry wine that is made from the Areni grape varietal, one of the oldest varieties in the world. It is also regarded as the king of Armenian grapes and it is 100% indigenous to Armenia as the unique climate and soil of this locality help in producing rich and flavourful Areni. Yeraz is the wine that reminds you of the taste and character of the forgotten grapes of Armenia. The fruits for this wine are cultivated in small patches of vineyards. The Voski wines are created to give a unique twist and flavour to the grapes that have been in Armenia for hundreds of years now. It is made from two indigenous varietals of grapes – Voskeak and Garandmak.
