      Detailed Description

Bordering the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation, “Les Sentiers” nestles just below the “Bonne Mares” and offers a slightly more solid structure than the rest of the appellation. 80 year old vines. Vinified 100% in whole harvest, 25% new barrels.Nicolas Groffier promotes the most natural possible management of the vine, severe pruning in order to drastically control yields and increase concentration in the wines. The same goes for the vat room, little intervention, careful sorting, often a proportion of whole bunches and licked farms. The color shows a beautiful deep ruby with purplish reflections. Very fragrant bouquet around blackberry and blackcurrant. Ample, the mouth offers gourmet flavors of blueberries and black cherries. The structure is balanced with fine and elegant tannins. A wine that is already appreciable today, but which will gain greatly in the cellar!

        Producer Information

Charles van Canneyt is the young vigneron at the helm of Domaine Hudelot-NoĂ«llat. Looking to increase production, he started a nĂ©goce label under his own name in 2012, expanding the operation in 2013.The operation is a collaboration, working with the support of Johan Björklund, an ex-wine merchant who today runs the boutique and hugely respected HĂŽtel de Beaune. There is no doubt that Charles is an extremely talented winemaker, as well as being incredibly well-connected – his contacts throughout the CĂŽte d’Or giving him access to some of the most desirable vineyards in the region for his nĂ©gociant business. The wines are made in tiny volumes and therefore tend to escape the notice of critics, however the quality is as you’d expect from the winemaker of Hudelot-NoĂ«llat. Depending on access and availability, Charles releases around 10 cuvĂ©es a year, typically red wines from the CĂŽte de Nuits although in 2019 he also released two Chablis Grands Crus.
