        Producer Information

The Schlossgut Bachtobel has been family-owned since 1784 and combines historical buildings, forest, vineyards and meadows to form a unique and valuable entity. Vineyards have been cultivated for eight generations and the current top position of Bachtobler wines is due to the constant striving for the highest quality. We cultivate our vineyards according to Bio Suisse guidelines.
The former seat of the Barons of Oberboltshausen is located halfway between the Thur Valley and the Ottenberg. Today, as at the time of acquisition, the property still includes the buildings recorded as follows in the purchase deed from 1784: «1 manorial palace with cellar, barn, stables, wash house and good well, 1 shed, 2 houses with cellar and stables, 1 Torggel». In the last 30 years the property has also been supplemented by a modern wine cellar, a machine hall and the extension of the barn. The castle, outbuildings and outbuildings have always been well maintained and today the Bachtobel is a unique building group in Thurgau, which is characterized by its authenticity and is largely protected. The use of the historic building has been adapted to current needs and so, for example, the pretty Biedermeier palace is available to external guests for selected events. Almost six hectares of vineyards stretch up the slopes of the Ottenberg and above that there are 13 hectares of forest, with the wood chips from which the buildings of the castle estate are heated in a CO2-neutral manner.
