Cardhu 2008 11 Year Old Special Releases 2020 Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML

Cardhu's entry in the Diageo Special Releases range looks at a type of wood the producer's rarely use – new oak. This was matured in new oak as well as refill and ex-bourbon American-oak casks for 11 years, layering spicy notes on top of the classic honey and fresh fruit Cardhu character.

Nose: Crunchy green apples and just-ripe white pears. Toffee notes build, with heather honey and crunchy barley sugar not far behind. Green herbal notes develop, with sage and rosemary alongside fresh lemon peel and candied orange.

Palate: This is extremely rich and very balanced in flavour.

Finish: Long lasting smokiness.

Distillery Information

Clynelish Distillery is a distillery near Brora, Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland. The original distillery was built in 1819, adjacent to the new Clynelish. The original Clynelish closed in the year 1968 as the new Clynelish distillery had been built in 1967.
