Engenho Novo da Madeira 3 Year Old 2016 (Private Label) | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Very delicate with hints of white grape and rusk biscuits. Damp oak leads to something floral, with hints of honeysuckle, melon, and a touch of fennel. In time, vanilla sweetness joins.
Palate: Nutty praline and delicate caramel grip the palate with an instant coating before a smack of drying oak kicks in. Green peppercorns, nutmeg, and clove bring a brilliant tickle of warmth.
Finish: Spiced caramel lingers, with earthy notes of vanilla pod, chalky candies, and more tingles of woody spice.
Distillery Information
Engenho Novo da Madeira is a young company focused on transforming sugarcane into Agricultural Rum under the William Hinton brand. It was created in 2006 by one of the heirs of the Hinton family, who owned the largest sugarcane processing plant in Europe at the time – Fábrica do Torreão – from which he inherited the centenary column still, from which he still extracts rum.
