This superb 37 year old Highland single malt was laid to rest at the Fettercairn distillery in December 1962 and bottled for The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, under society cask number 94.3, in February 2000.

Fettercairn 1962 SMWS 94.3 The Oldest Yet Single Malt Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: The palate is an explosion of delicate flavors, nice and delightful mouthfeel.

Palate: Nuts, varnish, honey, orange, oatmeal.

Finish: Lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression.

Distillery Information

Fettercairn has a traditional distillery set-up with an open-topped mash tun (producing cloudy wort), wooden washbacks and small stills. There are even soap grinders on the sides of the wash stills. These would have been used to add non-perfumed soap as a surfactant to stop the stills boiling over.
