Gaur Spice Whiskey is named for the Gaur bull. Native to South and Southeast Asia, the Gaur is a formidable animal—the largest surviving bovine on the planet. Also called the Indian Bison, the Gaur represents bold robust strength and is respected among many animals of equal or greater size. According to Gaur Spice Whiskey’s brand information, this whiskey is “small batch American Whiskey that fuse[s] East and West Cultural traditions.”

Nose: Very spice-heavy on the nose, Gaur Spice kicks off with aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg and a heavy gingerbread character — essentially an amalgam of all the spices that appear in the blend.
Palate: The palate largely follows suit, with baking spices leading the way to notes of whiskey-fueled vanilla and, later on, some notes of apple cake and almond cookies.
Finish: All the spices remain hefty throughout, cinnamon is particularly strong on the finish.
