Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Traditional, small-scale and high quality production is the aim, with wooden wash backs, small stills and sherry casks from Spain all contributing to the process. The environment is also ideal for whisky production with low temperatures and high humidity. Karuizawa Single Malts have won gold medals at IWSC and ISC testing competitons. This cask strength series of Karuizawa was exclusively released to the Taiwanese market. The 2nd release was bottled in 2013 from a sherry butt at an ABV of 61.7%
Karuizawa Single Malt Cask Strength 2nd Release 61.7% Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: A big sherry influence with sultanas, raisins and dry figs. Over time figs jump out with earthy notes as overall light subtle notes persist.
Palate: Much creamier than the 1sr release. There’s Christmas cake, rum-raisin butter tarts, prune jam, candied ginger and candied lemon peel. Water brings out a certain freshness with maraschino cherries, apricot jam and a hint of marzipan.
Finish: Longer than the first with rich chocolate, cointreau and berry jam.
