Made using 100% malted rye in a small cognac pot still (16 hectoliter's to be exact), this un-aged rye comes in just shy of 86 proof. Low Gap is a line of whiskeys from the folks at Craft Distillers, a microdistillery based in California.
Low Gap Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich, malty grain, rye bread.
Palate: Velvety, dried cherries, raisins, Cognac.
Finish: Long, full-bodied, honey, graham crackers, toast.
Distillery Information
Tamar Distillery Inc., American Craft Whiskey Distillery was founded in 2008, where they make Low Gap Whiskey, Russell Henry Gins, Fluid Dynamics Cocktails, and DSP 162 Vodkas. They use ancient methods learned during a lengthy apprenticeship with a brandy master from Cognac. Crispin applies the old double distillation method used in Cognac for over 500 years to make Low Gap Whiskey, and all their products.
